Four days after our home check, this fabulous boy came to us and he's been one of the family ever since. He arrived via a small road train, on a day when I'd normally be grieving, on my late mum's birthday. He gave me such happiness, as if he were hand-picked by my mum.
Phoenix Malbec is a character. He loves food! He walks well on the lead, but does commando crawl when he spots certain dogs. We're yet to try off-lead walks and we're looking into local enclosed fields. When it comes to snoozing, he equally loves to sleep in the crate-bed or next to me with his head on my pillow, but does get hot easily.
Phoenix Malbec craves attention and loves an ear/cheek massage. He does have an odd habit of thrusting his chest onto your feet for a rub whether you've got your feet on the sofa, or planted on the floor. We're still trying to teach him to come for a cuddle and get hand scratches.
He isn't a barker as such, but his Frug sister is and she's teaching him her bad habits........ it'll take him a while to decide to bark at the freshly delivered letters in the post cage. Phoenix Malbec will happily sit and look at the passers by from the kitchen window, whereas his psycho sister will bark at absolutely anything and is on permanent guard duty!
Sometimes he barks for us to play with him, or to help him out if his sister has stolen his favourite rope, yak or rubber bone. He's a gentleman through and through and we all absolutely love our lad.
Everyone needs a Malbec!
